Welcome to the Coos County Online Marriage Application System
Congratulations on your decision to get married! Completing the process for your marriage license can be done in a few easy steps:
- Complete this online application (make sure to fill out all fields) and click the Finish button when done.
- After you apply online, you both need to appear in our office to sign and pay for the license. *VALID ID IS REQUIRED.*
- After the marriage ceremony is done, the officiant will mail the license to our office in the envelope provided so it can be filed.
- Once the marriage license is returned to us, we will mail you a certified copy.
$60.00 IN CASH. The license fee is non-refundable. Includes one certified copy and a decorative certificate.

Applications are retained for 90 days, after that date, if not purchased, the application will be deleted from our system and you will need to reapply.
Requirements/Eligibility
You must meet these requirements in order to be considered eligible to apply for a marriage license. Blood tests and medical exams are not required.
Age
Legal age for marriage in the State of Oregon for both applicants is 18 years-of-age.
Relations
Applicants cannot be first cousins or nearer kin.
Divorce
A license can be issued one day after the final date of a divorce. If you were previously married, you’ll need the exact date of your divorce to complete the application.License Conditions
Licenses may be obtained in any county in Oregon, and can only be used in the State of Oregon. No extensions of time or refunds of money are made once the license is issued.
Waiting Period
There is a three-day waiting period from the day the license is purchased until it can be used.
Waiver
Under special circumstances with prior approval from the County Clerk a waiver of the 3-day waiting period can be purchased for an additional $25.00 fee.
Expiration
Once the license is effective, it is valid for a 60-day period.Certified Copy
Once the marriage has taken place, and the completed marriage license is returned to the County Clerk, one official certified copy of the license will be automatically mailed to you.
Additional copies can be purchased at any time for $7.75.
Legal Copies
The certified document is considered the legal copy, and can be used by the applicants to change their name on items like a driver's license or social security card.A decorative marriage certificate will be provided. This is not a legal document and may not be used as proof of marriage. If an issued license is lost or destroyed, it can be replaced at the County Clerk’s office.
